UPDATE: Woman arrested after allegedly shooting man in the hip, threatening to kill him

UPDATE 7/3/18 @ 5 p.m.

A fight over cheating left one man in the hospital and a woman behind bars, Putnam County court documents show.

According to the criminal complaint, Ambrea Ragland, 33, of Huntington, and the man who was shot were fighting about a rumored relationship with another woman.

The victim, Ragland and the other woman were all inside the Cochran Circle home when the fighting broke out Monday evening.

The victim told deputies while he was inside the home, he was able to get the gun and bullets away from Ragland because she was threatening to kill him.

According to the court documents, the victim was outside washing off his lawnmower when the suspect, Ragland, walked into the garage and shot into the air and then shot the victim in the hip area.

The victim also says she pointed the gun at his head multiple times and continued to threaten to the kill him. That's when the other woman convinced Ragland not to pull the trigger, and both women took off in the victim's truck.

The victim was able to crawl down his driveway and get help. He was taken to CAMC General Hospital in Charleston.

Hurricane Police later stopped two women in the victim's truck on the I-64 exit ramp in Hurricane. They were taken into custody, and Ragland was later arrested.

She is charged with malicious wounding, wanton endangerment and prohibited person with a firearm.

Officers discovered that Ragland had a criminal history. She was convicted by the FBI in 2008 for carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime.

According to the criminal complaint, Ragland was not supposed to be in possession of a gun.


UPDATE 7/2/18 @ 10:45 p.m.

A woman faces charges in a shooting Monday evening that hurt a man near Nitro city limits, West Virginia State Police say.

Ambrea Ragland is charged with malicious wounding, wanton endangerment and prohibited person with a firearm.

The man was alert when he was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

It happened around 6:15 p.m. along Cochran Circle, just outside Nitro city limits.

Hurricane Police later stopped two women on the I-64 exit ramp in Hurricane. They were taken into custody, and Ragland was later arrested.

She will be taken to the Western Regional Jail.

One person is recovering after being shot at a home Monday evening along Cochran Circle, which is just outside Nitro city limits.

According to West Virginia State Police, two women have been detained for questioning in connection with the shooting. Hurricane Police Chief Mike Mullins says they were stopped by HPD officers on the I-64 exit ramp in Hurricane.

The shooting happened around 6:15 p.m.

The extent of the victim's injuries are unknown at this time.
