A San Jose man suffered major injuries when two trucks collided Thursday morning in unincorporated Monterey County, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The crash, reported around 9:15 a.m., involved an armored truck and a large-engine flatbed truck on Highway 156 between Prunedale and Castroville.

Both trucks were going west on Highway 156 near Oak Hills Drive when the flatbed veered right and hit the armored truck. The flatbed truck tipped on its side and the armored truck came to a stop.

CHP officials said the driver of the armored truck, an unidentified San Jose man,  suffered major injuries and was taken to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas for care.

The driver of the flatbed truck suffered minor injuries. CHP officials said it’s too early to say what caused the crash.
