Lady Cougars complete perfect regular season

Mountain Heritage defeated Avery County Friday in the WHC tournament title game.

LEDGER - Mountain Heritage completed a perfect regular season Friday with a 55-41 win over Avery County in the Western Highlands Conference tournament championship game.

The Lady Cougars (23-0) claimed both the regular season and conference titles and look destined for a No. 1 seed in the 2A playoffs when the NCHSAA releases its brackets on Saturday.

Hannah Tipton was named WHC tournament MVP.
