Southwest Now Flying From Austin To San Francisco, Sacramento

"The new nonstop of Sacramento makes connecting capital to capital easier than ever," says executive director of Austin-Bergstrom.

AUSTIN, TX — Southwest Airlines on Monday launched nonstop daily service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to a pair of California cities, San Francisco and Sacramento.

The new routes' launching was heralded in grand style at Gate 10, with a live musical performance by Cari Q, ribbon cutting ceremony, cake and remarks by officials from the airport and airline.

“With our long history in Austin, Southwest’s mission continues to be answering demand from our loyal Customers who seek faster journeys by adding more nonstop service to the places that matter to them most,” Kevin Sullivan, the airline's director of corporate sales, said. “As the hometown airline carrying more people who are traveling for business or leisure, we expect an instant success for these two routes linking the Heart of Texas to Northern California.”

The new Southwest daily nonstop from Austin to Sacramento will depart Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at 7:55 p.m. and arrives at Sacramento International Airport at 9:45 p.m. Flights depart Sacramento at 6:30 a.m.and arrive in Austin at 11:50 a.m. New Southwest nonstop daily service to San Francisco International Airport departs Austin at 3:30 p.m. and arrives at San Francisoco at 5:25 p.m. Flights depart San Francisco at 5:55 a.m. and arrives in Austin at 11:30 a.m. All times are local and tickets are available for booking at www.southwest.com.

ABIA officials noted San Jose (SJC) and Oakland (OAK) are also serviced by Southwest with nonstop flights from Austin-Bergstrom.Southwest now offers 68 daily departures from AUS and is the largest airline carrier at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, transporting more than 5.17 million passengers in 2017. Along with Sacramento (SMF) and San Francisco (SFO), Southwest is also starting a Sunday nonstop service to Indianapolis (IND). Starting on April 8, 2018, the Southwest nonstop route from Austin to Indianapolis (IND) will depart on Sundays from AUS at 1 p.m. and arrive at IND at 4:20 p.m. Flights depart IND at 4:20 p.m. and arrive at AUS at 6:05 p.m.
