Love the game of golf and want to join a ladies group? Kings Links Ladies play every Tuesday morning and are welcoming new members. The 2018 season starts now and goes until mid-October. Delta Hospice Society invites adults who have experienced the death of a loved one to come together and participate in a supportive group. Participants will have opportunities to share their experiences and feelings, and learn how to navigate their grief process. Six sessions, led by a bereavement counsellor, starts Wednesday, May 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Centre for Supportive Care, 4631 Clarence Taylor Crescent, Ladner. Join Lara McIntyre, a local registered professional counsellor and hypnotherapist, at the Ladner Pioneer Library on Monday, May 14, 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. for An Introduction to Clinical Hypnotherapy.

 

South Delta Garden Club welcomes Pam Erikson, speaking about the evolution of day-lilies and hostas in our gardens on Tuesday, May 15. Doors open at 7 pm. Ladner Christian Reformed Church, 4594-54A St. Membership $20/year - Guests $5 (may be applied to membership).

 

On Wednesday, May 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., come to the Tsawwassen Library to learn about your rights as a patient. Using new strategies and techniques, discover how to best Navigate the Healthcare Maze and feel more confident about the choices you make. This program will be offered at the Ladner Pioneer Library on Thursday, May 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

 

The Probus Club of South Delta, a non-profit club for retired and semi-retired people who wish to gather with others to enjoy learning and fellowship will hold its monthly meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16 at the Coast Tsawwassen Inn. South Delta Newcomers Club welcomes new members to our group from Ladner, Tsawwassen and Point Roberts. Ambassadors Tsawwassen Mills Toastmasters presents, Characteristics of Leadership on May 22 at 7 to 9 p.m. Learn what the attributes of successful leaders are. If you have been bereaved recently, consider joining the Delta Hospice Society’s Adult Bereavement Walking Group where you can walk and talk with others in similar situations. Participants will have opportunities to share their experiences and feelings in a safe and informal fashion as they walk for 50 to 60 minutes in the Ladner area. The Group meets at the Centre for Supportive Care, 4631 Clarence Taylor Crescent, Ladner for six Saturdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. starting on May 19 and ending on June 23. Delta Hospice Society offers a Drop-In Relaxation Circle, led by a music therapist, for those living with cancer or serious illness, as well as their family members & friends, every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Centre for Supportive Care, 4631 Clarence Taylor Cres., Ladner. Program is complimentary.

Every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Tsawwassen Library connect with other newshounds for News and Views to discuss current events in the news. Bring an article to share or discuss what turns up in the day’s papers.

 

Do you want to talk about big ideas and learn from the greatest minds on the planet? Attend a TED Talks Discussion Group at the Tsawwassen Library on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) is dedicated to spreading ideas and covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues. Listen to a pre-selected TED Talk and an open discussion will follow.

 

The Knitting Sisters, a group which donates knitted items to various community groups, would be appreciative of any yarn donations. Donations can be dropped off at McKee Seniors Recreation, 5155-47th Ave., Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., or Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The group, which meets at McKee as a drop-in from 10 a.m. to noon on the first and third Saturday of the month, also welcomes new members.
