The Anglican Church of the Redeemer in Chattanooga held its first vacation bible school on July 10, 11, and 12.   Kay Klose was the coordinator of the program and was assisted by Gay Gruetzemacher, Susan Hodnett, and Allie McCollum.

Bible stories were chosen and activities were developed around the F.R.O.G. Curriculum (Fully Rely on God).  A key scripture guiding the program was Isaiah 26:4 : “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock Eternal.” All students learned to recite this verse.

Stories from the book of Daniel including Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (the fiery furnace) and Daniel in the Lion’s Den were instrumental in developing the concept to “Fully Rely On God” (F.R.O.G.).  Art activities included making lions, fiery furnaces, rock frogs, and frog doorknob decorations, etc.  Outdoor activities included sack races where all were “leaping for the Lord.”

On the last day, teachers, children, and parents had an outing to the Hodnett’s farm to ride horses, eat pizza, and swim.  Plans are underway for next year’s vacation bible school.
