Last night, Black Hippy star and XXL Freshmen Class of 2013 alum ScHoolboy Q rocked back-to-back sold-out performances at New York's SOB's. Amidst headlines of his upcoming Aftermath/Interscope debut Oxymoron and his latest single "Yay Yay" garnering acclaim from fans and critics alike, anticipation for the South Central emcee's performance was at a fever-pitch, as hundreds of concert-goers moshed their way towards the stage in hopes of catching a glimpse of the budding rapper.

The show officially kicked off with opening performances from three up-and-coming New York acts. The first artist to take the stage was Queens native Bryant Dope, whose brief time on stage gave listeners a glimpse into the XXL "New New York" emcee's buzzed-out discography. Following Dope were Bishop Nehru and and 1Shot Dealz. Although all three performers delivered entertaining sets, it was Nehru who garnered the most visceral response from the packed crowd. The Rockland County 16-year-old stunned concert-goers with his assured delivery and boom-bap inflected music. Furthermore, it was his acapella performance that made his set one of the most memorable moments of the evening.

Around 1 AM, ScHoolboy Q took the stage to uproarious applause from the crowd. Despite having finished up his first performance of the evening not three hours earlier, the TDE emcee quickly jumped into his set with energetic renditions of "#BETiGOTSUMWEED" and "Oxy Music." Q commanded the stage with a veteran authority, imbuing his on-stage antics with an almost punk rock-sense of frenzy so often missing from modern hip-hop concerts. At the same time, Q kept a fairly cordial demeanor on-stage, cracking jokes with the audience while passing the roach-ends of blunts to a few concert-goers lucky enough to secure spots at the front of the stage.

Even as the performance pushed well past the half hour mark, Q's energy didn't waver. The California rhymer tore through fan favorites like "There He Go," "Nightmare on Figg St.," "Druggy Wit Hoes Again" and "Gangsta in Designer" - the later of which gave him the opportunity to flaunt his Givenchy, Burberry and Air Jordan-laced outfit. Q even teased the crowd as he pretended to welcome Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky to the stage, only to laugh off the ruse and jump into performances of K. Dot's "A.D.H.D." and Rocky's "Brand New Guy." After an hour of non-stop music, Q finally closed off his set with his first single off his upcoming Oxymoron "Yay Yay," giving his adoring fans ample opportunity to scream his trademark phrase "Yawk yawk yawk!" with rabid delight.
