Bomb hurled at house of RSS man accused of hartal violence
Kozhikode: The house of an RSS activist, who is accused in the case relating to the attack on son and daughter- in- law of CPM district secretary P Mohanan, was attacked in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Police said a country-made steel bomb was hurled at the house of Sudheesh E, third accused in the case, at 12.20 am.
The house is located at Nettoor near Kuttiady.
Glass window panes and chairs were destroyed. A case has been registered.
Mohanan’s son Julius Nikitas and daughter-in-law and TV journalist Sanio Manomi were manhandled allegedly by a gang of RSS workers at Ambalathukulangara near Kuttiady on Saturday.
The couple was attacked when they were moving towards Kuttiady in their car by a gang who were blocking the road as part of the hartal called by the Hindu Aikyavedi following the preventive custody of the organization’s leader K P Sasikala.
As per the couple’s statement, the attack was carried out by a gang of 10.
Julius had suffered injury on his face, stomach and legs. Sanio also suffered injuries in the attack.
Police have so far arrested three people, including Sudheesh, and the search is on for the remaining accused. The other arrested persons have been identified as M K Sreeju (18) and K P Aswin (21).
The arrested have been charged under Section 308 (attempt to murder) and various other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
