Celebrating Bradley Cooper's 45th Birthday: A Look At The Leading Man's Life
While he absolutely has leading man status in Hollywood now, and nobody can forget "that" performance with Lady Gaga at the Academy Awards (and the cringe-worthy fact that his former girlfriend Irina Shayk was watching the whole time,) Bradley Cooper hasn't always been this famous.
He got his first big role as a guest star on Sex and the City in 1999, where he played a drunk guy that asked Sarah Jessica Parker about an awful magazine cover photo. But, since then he's made quite a name for himself, although some will always know him as Phil from The Hangover.

His Career Started Out Very Slowly
His next role came just a couple of years later when he played Will Tippin alongside Jennifer Garner on the hit show Alias. However, his role on the show became smaller and smaller, to the point where he asked to be written out. Unfortunately, his failing career lead to alcohol dependency and substance abuse issues.
In 2012, he told The Hollywood Reporter, “I was so concerned what you thought of me, how I was coming across, how I would survive the day.
I always felt like an outsider. I just lived in my head. I realized I wasn’t going to live up to my potential, and that scared the hell out of me. I thought, ‘Wow, I’m actually gonna ruin my life. I’m really gonna ruin it."
He Became A Household Name After His Role In 'The Hangover'
Of course, his biggest break came in 2009 when he played Phil in The Hangover, and to date it's been one of his most well-known roles. (Though, let's not forget his 2005 role-playing that asshole guy in Wedding Crashers who threw up all night after his drink was spiked with eye drops.)
The Hollywood heartthrob has had so many roles it's hard to remember them all, including starring parts in Limitless, Silver Linings Playbook, American Sniper, and the recent hit A Star Is Born in which we all realized he had a fantastic singing voice.
Affair Rumors With Lady Gaga
Though he's had some high profile relationships in the past, including dating model Suki Waterhouse for two years in 2013, the tabloids weren't all that interested in his love life until recently.
In 2018, he directed A Star Is Born in which he also starred in alongside Lady Gaga, sparking dating rumors after their steamy performance of the song "Shallow" at the Academy Awards.
These dating rumors wouldn't be a problem if Bradley hadn't been dating model Irina Shayk for a number of years, the mother of his daughter.
He Split With Irina Shayk Last Year
Irina and Bradley split not long after, and his close relationship with Lady Gaga was blamed for it.
The singer, however, has shot down the rumors constantly and did so when she spoke to Oprah Winfrey for Elle magazine. She said, “Quite frankly, I think the press is very silly. I mean, we made a love story. For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course, we wanted people to believe that we were in love."
Bradley has had quite the career and love life; though we don't know much about his relationship at this point, we do know he will star in the Leonard Bernstein biopic Bernstein in 2020.
