Jordan-Elbridge's Marion Quigley wrapped up his bid for a state title Saturday.
Quigley, a junior for the Eagles, finished up the final two events of the pentathlon for the New York Public High School Athletic Association track and field championships. Competing in Division II, Quigley ended up placing fourth among small school competitors and 11th overall in New York state.
The pentathlon combines five different track and field events: the 110m hurdles, 1500m run, high jump, long jump and shot put.
On Friday, Quigley completed three of those five events. His day started with the 110m hurdles, which he finished first in Division II (15.55) to earn 783 points and nab an early lead in the competition. He followed that effort by jumping a high of 5-10.75, good for third in Division II and 627 points. Quigley's pursuit took a hit in Friday's final event in the shot put — his throw of 28-3.50 was 12th in Division II. After the first three events on Friday, Quigley was third with 1,814 points.
