Scott Credit Union to open Columbia, IL branch

SCU’s 17th branch is slated to open late this year

EDWARDSVILLE, IL (July 3, 2018) — Scott Credit Union has announced plans to open a new branch in Columbia, IL, late this year.

The credit union, with headquarters in Edwardsville, IL, is finalizing the design for its next branch, which will be in the 11 South Building off Route 3.

The newest SCU location will be the credit union’s 17th branch and will feature an innovative, consultative design to serve members.

“We are again excited to announce that we will be opening another branch,” said Scott Credit Union President & CEO Frank Padak. “We recently announced that we will open our first St. Louis branch later this summer, which will be followed by the opening of the branch in Columbia, Illinois.”

Scott Credit Union representatives are currently working on plans and expect to open in December.

“It will be another innovative branch that is designed to really help us connect with members and build relationships with them when they come in to do their banking business,” Padak noted.

Scott Credit Union will be leasing about 2,800 square feet on the main floor of the building. The location also will feature drive up lanes and a 24-hour drive up ATM.

“Our new location will make it more convenient for members who live in the southern part of our service area,” Padak added. “We also welcome other residents in the area to see why we are a great money-saving alternative.”

The new branch will feature non-traditional teller pods where SCU staff will guide members through their transactions, Padak noted.

“When members come in, we will greet them and be available to meet whatever financial need they have,” he added.

Scott Credit union is a full service financial institution that offers services for individuals and businesses.

“We offer a great line of products and services, like free high rate checking, auto loans, mortgages, and competitive credit cards,” Padak noted. “We also offer the technology that helps make banking simple for our members. Some examples of that are Apple, Samsung and Google Pay on credit and debit cards.”

The new branch also will have mortgage and investment experts available when area residents are looking to buy a home or need assistance with planning for retirement or on investing their money, Padak said.

“We are looking forward to providing the value that Scott Credit Union offers to people in the Columbia area,” he added. “Because we are a not-for-profit financial cooperative, we charge less when people need to borrow, pay more on their savings and typically charge less fees for our services. As a credit union, we are simply a better value.”

Scott Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that is member owned. Because of its structure, the credit union has given $10 million back to members through a bonus dividend and loan interest rebate over the past 10 years.
