Nicole Kidman has caused a firestorm on social media for her Emmy speech that seemed to snub her two adopted children with ex-husband, Tom Cruise.
During her speech for Outstanding Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for “Big Little Lies,” the Aussie actress tearfully thanked her husband, Keith Urban, and their two daughters, Sunday, 9, and Faith, 6.
“I have two little girls, Sunday and Faith, and my darling Keith,” Kidman, 50, said in her speech. “This is yours. I want my little girls to have this on their shelf and to look at it and go, ‘Every time my mommy didn’t put me to bed, it’s because of this. I got something!'”
People were surprised that the Oscar winner didn’t mention her two oldest children, Isabella, 24 and Connor, 22.
Some surmised it was because of their connection to Scientology.
According to former Scientologists, Kidman is considered a “suppressive person” within the church. The term refers to people who doubt the teachings of Scientology.
Outspoken ex-Scientologist Leah Remini recounts a time she rode in a car with Isabella and Connor after their father, Tom Cruise’s 2006 wedding with Katie Holmes in her book “Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology.”
Remini asked if they had seen their mother latterly and Bella reportedly snapped, “Not if I have a choice. Our mother is a f—ing SP.”
And that wasn’t the only thing Kidman did that got noticed.
When her co-star Alexander Skarsgard picked up an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, Kidman wasn’t shy in expressing her happiness.
As the Swedish-born actor strode to the stage he shared a quick kiss on the lips with Kidman that took place in front of Urban.
Almost immediately the internet lit up about the interaction.
“Nicole kidman really kissed alexander skarsgard (her tv husband) on the mouth in front of her real husband lmao,” one person tweeted, while another humorously wrote: “I AM SHIPPING THIS. A THREE-WAY MARRIAGE WITH NICOLE KIDMAN, KEITH URBAN AND ALEXANDER SKARSGARD IS WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF.”
