SANTA FE SPRINGS — A man was killed today in a fiery two-car crash on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Santa Fe Springs, and authorities sought a motorist who ran from the scene.

The crash was reported at 1:55 a.m. on the northbound 605 Freeway at Slauson Avenue, said California Highway Patrol Officer Elizabeth Kravig.

A black Chevrolet Camaro and a Toyota Prius were involved in the crash, and both caught fire, the CHP reported.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the other vehicle fled on foot and was being sought, the CHP reported.

A SigAlert was issued for all lanes of the northbound 605 Freeway and traffic was diverted at Telegraph Road. The freeway lanes were reopened shortly before 7 a.m., the CHP reported.
