Stars came together on Saturday night in support of Kids in the Spotlight‘s inaugural “Cocktails for a Cause,” hosted by “Modern Family” star Ty BurrellFounded in 2009, KITS is a non-profit org that introduces the art of filmmaking to foster children and other marginalized youth in the Los Angeles area.

Held at the private home of executive producer and writer of “The Big Bang Theory” Lee Aronsohn, guests such as Burrell, Mo McRae (“Empire”), Aisha Hinds (“True Blood”) and Malcolm-Jamal Warner (“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”) were seen enjoying custom cocktails and Louisiana cuisine by the poolside. Attendees also bid on a variety of items through the event’s silent auction, ranging from artwork created by kids in the program to a director’s chair signed by the cast of the hit TV show “24.”

Burrell, who has long been a supporter of KITS, noted the difference he’s seen in many of these children since joining the organization.

“In terms of [their] self-esteem, there has been so many success stories for these kids,” said Burrell. “The main focus [of this organization] is to give these kids a voice, who have been marginalized by society.”

Burrell also stated that the organization will have its own special feature on the “Modern Family” season 7 DVD, which is slated for a Sep. 20 release.

“If you contribute to KITS, you have a real chance to make a difference in the world,” Burrell said. “The foster system is disproportionately represented in the prison system. KITS is one of those organizations that if you donate to it, you know you’re making an impact.”
