Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has laid a wreath in memory of Irish soldiers who died in World War I and World War II at a ceremony in Sligo, alongside the Lord Lieutenant for Co Fermanagh and the German Ambassador to Ireland.

Ms McDonald took part in the fourth annual Act of Remembrance and Reconciliation of Sligo Grammar School along with Viscount Brookeborough and Ambassador Deike Potzel.

She laid a laurel wreath for the Irish soldiers in Calry Parish Church.

Frau Potzel laid a laurel wreath on behalf of German soldiers who died in the wars, and Viscount Brookeborough laid a poppy wreath in memory of Allied soldiers who died in both wars.
