Yorkshire people here say you tend to score a lot of runs in the last session. You have to dig in early on but then, if the sun is out, batting becomes a lot easier later on.
England's top three have to do some donkey work against this Australia attack, get their seamers into their third and fourth spells and then cash in later.
Jim Maxwell reckons the Godfather is "pretty good".

Whereas Jofra Archer was hostile at Lord's, he wasn't getting wickets with the skill we saw today. If he continues to bowl like that in helpful conditions, he's going to be a handful.

If Australia's attack bowl straight on this pitch against this England line-up, they could get them out cheaply too.

Not many Australian batsmen got out to bad shots, it was mainly good bowling. So it could have been even worse.

England's batsmen have to stick their hands up and say it's their job to make a big hundred and put their side really on top.
They grabbed the last session and it's up to the team to realise that if you have a session like that, don't throw it away tomorrow. Don't let Australia back into the game, nicking off with big drives.
This is not a ground to go looking for runs on the drive too early.

A day that looked really bad for England has ended up looking like an almost perfect day.

Joe Root will be relieved. When you win the toss and bowl in these conditions people expect you to bowl them out cheaply and up until 5.37pm when Warner was out it wasn't looking great.
England piled in at the end, they didn't get it right for 15 overs against a brilliant partnership but when Jofra and Board came back they built a bowling partnership.
England have dragged themselves back into a dominant position.
