Esther Rudie, age 94, of Oslo, MN and formerly of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Sunday, February 11th, at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22nd, at Zion Lutheran Church in Oslo, MN with the Rev. Loren Mellum officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, rural McIntosh, at a later date. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the National Guard Honors Team and arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home, serving McIntosh. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com . Memorials may be designated to Valley Eldercare Center of Zion Lutheran Church.

Esther Selma Rindahl was born on August 3, 1923 in Winger, Minnesota to parents Ole and Alma Nestingen Rindahl. She attended grade school in Winger and high school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School. She entered the United States Navy on December 2, 1943 and served during World War II. She received her honorable discharge on January 5, 1946 and returned home.

Esther was united in marriage to Elden Arnold Rudie on October 17, 1948. They lived on a farm near Winger until 1972 when they moved to McIntosh. In addition to caring for her family, Esther worked as a dietary aide at the Fosston Hospital from 1978 until her retirement in 1994. They moved to Oslo, Minnesota in 1999. In 2008, they sold their home in Oslo and moved into an apartment in Grand Forks. Elden passed away on June 8, 2013. She was a resident of Valley Eldercare since 2012.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oslo and past member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh. Through the years, she had been active in ladies aide, Circle, taught Sunday School, American Legion and 4-H.

She enjoyed picnics, fishing, planting and growing flowers and listening to music. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Esther is survived by her two daughters, Angela (Clem) Brown of Grand Forks, and Belinda (Jim) Folz of Angus, MN; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Chandra Brown of Washington DC, Vanessa (Phil) Royer & their children, Olivia, Valentina, Sabinna, and Elyse, all of Aberdeen, NC, and Cameo (Alex) Prillwitz & their children, Ella and Frank, of Fairfax, VA. Nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elden; grandson, DeVelle Brown; three brothers, Everet, Otis, and Vernon; and two sisters, Sadie and Ellen.
