Deuel-Castlewood-Hamlin falls to Madison in Region 2B semifinals

REDFIELD — Pitchers Aspen Dahl and Tyler Tappe combined on a one-hitter to lead Madison past Deuel-Castlewood-Hamlin 4-2 on Monday in the semifinals of the Region 2B high school baseball tournament.

The loss ended DCH’s season with an 11-3 record.

Madison took the early lead by plating two runs in the top of the first. Even Applewick doubled in the first run and later scored on a passed ball. Madison added runs in the fourth and sixth on sacrifice flies.

DCH scored twice in the bottom of the sixth — one on a run-scoring single by Skyler Solsaa and the other on a bases-loaded walk by Kyler Swenson.

Dahl earned the win. He allowed no hits and fanned nine in five innings. Tappe pitched the final two innings.

Kellan Benck started and took the loss for DCH. Jackson Noem pitched the final two innings in relief.
