Former Gamecock Parker Bangs Is Headed To Davidson

DAVIDSON, NC — Former Gamecock and national champion Parker Bangs is going home in a sense. After three years as pitching coach for Presbyterian College he'll have the same role on the Davidson baseball staff led by new head coach Rucker Taylor.

Parker hails from Laurinburg, NC and that's just a little over two hours from Davidson.

While at PC the Blue Hose had two pitchers make All-Big South Conference and the team posted it's best strikeout and ERA numbers since going Division-I. They also allowed it's fewest runs since 2013 under Parker's guidance.

In his first season as pitching coach Presbyterian made it to the Big South Championship game

Recently, Blue Hose right handed pitcher Tanner Chock signed with the Angels. Parker himself played three season in the Kansas City Royals organization.

Parker won a national title with the Gamecocks in 2010 and has also served as a pitching and hitting coach for the Lexington Country Blowfish and also had a stint as a the hitting coach for Dutch Fork High School and now he is going to the Atlantic 10 conference.
