Less than a month after we reported that Chipotle was facing a food shortage and that most restaurants only get a "C" grade, the Tex-Mex chain is now planning to raise its prices. We know, this is a serious buzzkill for all your burrito cravings.

Not only will the chain nix its countless free-food promotions, which were part of its damage control post-illness outbreaks, Chipotle is also expected to hike price tags. Eater reports that company executives pointed to the rise in average hourly wages for fast-food workers, which have grown faster than menu prices. Good thing we've figured out how to save serious cash at the quick-serve taco shop.

But don't expect a huge leap just yet-top brass clarified that the brand would test minor price hikes in specific areas where labor costs increase the most. They'll also gauge customer reactions.

There is a bit of good news, though: Chipotle intends to add a dessert to its docket, but refuses to give any details on it just yet. According to Eater, the sweet treat "has made it through the testing phase and may be landing at restaurants in the spring" and only involves one new ingredient. We're guessing it's cinnamon-sugar tortilla chips, though we really wish it was churros.
