Fashion-Lifestyle Footwear Market Grew 3.0% in 2016


The casual footwear market increased to $13,525 million in wholesale value in 2016 from $13,134 million in 2015 reversing the 3.0% decline recorded the year before. U.S. sales inched up just 0.8% to $5,606 million from $5,560 million, but the bulk of the growth came from International sales, which rose 4.6% to $7,919 million from $7,574 million. The casual segment, which includes more fashion-focused lifestyle brands, outperformed the more performance-oriented rugged outdoor footwear segment that saw total sales contract 1.3% to $4,176 million in 2016 as we reported in our Sep. 1 issue.
