GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Gander Mountain's retail store in Grandville was buzzing on Saturday, April 27 as the store's three-day grand opening of their new firearms super-center was attended by two of the members from the reality TV show "Swamp People".
Troy Landry and Brandon Hotard, stars of the History Channel's television series were on hand from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 and will make a second appearance from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 28.
Walking towards a crowd of hundreds, Landry bellows a trademark “Choot ‘Em” to which the crowd heartedly replies in kind. Over 500 fans have come to see them today with hundreds more lined up.
Both wearing alligator-skin cowboy boots (naturally), I met with them to shoot a quick video before entering the store. I asked them about ways to eat alligator, whose boots came from a meaner alligator, if they would ever consider naming an alligator after Grand Rapids and more.
The 31,000-square-foot store will feature thousands of new and used firearms of all kinds, and what the retailer is describing as the industry's best selection of firearms accessories, specialty apparel, ammunition and security. The store will also be staffed by firearms specialists to give shoppers a more one-on-one service.
If you’re planning on grabbing a picture and autograph on Sunday, get there early. The popularity of these two has the store literally swamped with fans.
