6 things to do for Memorial Day weekend in El Paso

The El Paso area offers plenty to do this Memorial Day holiday weekend. Whether you want to celebrate art, enjoy minor league baseball, buy local produce from Borderland farmers or step into a legendary cantina, here are a few ideas on how you can enjoy the weekend.

Rosa's Cantina

Enjoy a cold beer and some great tacos while listening to live music this weekend at Rosa's Cantina, 3454 Doniphan Drive.

The historic bar will have mariachis from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Exito from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday, Birddogs from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, and The Tip on Sunday.

Fountains Art and Farmers Market

Enjoy shopping, good weather, live music and the Fountains Art and Farmers Market from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 27, at The Fountains at Farah, 8889 Gateway Blvd. West.

The event continues on Fridays through June.

Cielo Vista Mall Farmer's Market

Cielo Vista Mall, 8401 Gateway Blvd. West, also will have a farmers market. From noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 29, the market will feature more than 100 local vendors, artisans, farmers and food trucks, as well as live music. It will be in the parking lot closest to the food court entrance by Cinemark Cielo Vista Mall 14 and XD.

Graff Fest

Old Sheepdog Brewery, at 3900 Rosa Ave., will have its First South Central Graff Fest, from 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday. The fest will feature graffiti battles, music, barbecue, vendors, food and plenty of beer.

Chihuahuas and fireworks

The El Paso Chihuahuas will bring out Memorial Day fireworks Sunday after the game against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Gate opens at 5 p.m.

It is also Kids Day Sunday and Salute to Service Sunday, presented by AT&T, with the Sunday Funday Seltzers deal until 7:30 p.m. The deal is $5 for 12-ounce seltzer cans in assorted flavors at the Pepsi Grab N Go stands.

Mariachis at Speaking Rock

Enjoy margaritas or your favorite beverage while listening to the music of Mariachi Alegre and Mariachi Femenil Flores Mexicanas from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Speaking Rock Entertainment Center, 122 S. Old Pueblo Road. Free.
