The death of a 68-year-old woman that prompted a “major incident” investigation Wednesday in a Riegelsville home has been ruled a suicide, the Bucks County coroner said Friday.

The woman was found dead about 5 p.m. Wednesday, Coroner Joseph Campbell said.

The incident prompted a heavy state police presence to the home on Linden Lane. Neighbors reported hearing a gunshot from the house and, later, seeing a man in his 70s on a walker being led to an ambulance.

Riegelsville Mayor Gregory Stokes said he stopped at the scene Wednesday night and spoke to the troop commander from state police at Dublin, who told him there was no danger to the community.

“I asked him because of course Facebook was blowing up,” he said Thursday, referring to rampant speculation on the social media site. “Everyone’s concerned. It’s a very close-knit community and it’s scary when something like that happens.”
