North Union girls golfers loses region tiebreaker

BRITT, Iowa — The North Union girls lost on the fifth-score tiebreaker during the Iowa Class 1A, Region 3 golf championship in Britt, Iowa, on Monday to close out the Warriors’ season.

Bishop Garrigan took first in the tournament with a combined score of 366, while Alta-Aurelia and North Union each shot 392s. Alta-Aurelia, however, qualified for the state tournament when it squeezed by the Warriors on the tiebreaker.

Kayla Sabin and Vanessa Von Bank each shot 97s to lead the Warriors.

Halle Rezac hit a 98 and Jordyn Cummins recorded a 100 for the final Warriors’ counting scores.

Carys Fuller rounded out the Warriors’ scoring with a 114.

Iowa Class 1A

District Boys Golf

The North Union boys placed 11th in Iowa Class 1A district play on Thursday at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

The finish ended the North Union spring boys’ golf season.

Hayden Nicoson led the way for the Warriors with his 18-hole score of 37-43-80, while Parker Eichenberger carded a 45-47-92.

Gage Madden hit a 47-51-98 and Carter Anderson notched a 48-64-112 for the final Warriors’ counting scores.

Jacob Burt carded a 49-64-113, while Michael Hanson totalled a 59-54-113 to round out the Warriors’ scoring.

Harris-Lake Park won the day with a combined total of 324, while Newell Fonda hit 335 for second.
