Craigslist's revenue will be $115 million this year, a $6 million drop from 2010, according estimates from media and consultant firm AIM Group.

For any other company declining revenue would be a disaster. For Craigslist, it's not a big deal.

The company intentionally passes on opportunities to maximize revenues and earnings. Making a profit is not its primary goal.

CEO Jim Buckmaster, who is about to celebrate his 11th year in charge, told the Guardian,"any extra profit accrued is an unintended secondary consequence."

The 11th most popular site in the United States and the 37th in the world has only 32 employees. It charges for job advertisements in 18 U.S. cities and $10 for apartment listings in New York as a way to meet expenses.

AIM estimated the site's value at $1 billion, citing "untapped" commercial potential.

We pegged it at $2.5 billion in the latest Digital 100.
