The X-Files TV Reboot News Update: Will God Appear In The X-Files Reboot? Burt Reynolds Hopes So; Titles Leaked For Standalone Episodes

The X-Files TV Reboot News Update: The X-Files promises that the truth is out there. They also say to trust no one. But I trust Burt Reynolds. He starred in some classic movies, delivering stellar performances in "Deliverance" and "The Longest Yard." He also posed nude for Playgirl magazine. Burt Reynolds also played God on an episode of The X-Files.

Now that Fox is rebooting the X-Files series, fans at Wizard World Comic Con Chicago this weekend wanted to know what God thought about it.

"I don't really remember too much about it," Reynolds told the gathering. "I don't know whether it was a time when I was imbibing and something, but I don't remember it."

Reynolds might not remember it, but that doesn't mean he's not proud of it. Burt also hinted he'd like to take another stab at it.

"But I know it's a very good show," Reynolds said. "And I'd like to do it again if they still remember me."

The X-Files event series will consist of six standalone episodes featuring FBI Agents Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) in the roles they originated in the 90s.

According to E! News, Mulder and Scully are no longer together on The X-Files reboot. Will the series be playing with their chemistry and trying to mix it back together?

Fox also leaked a sneak peak into the episode titles of The X-Files revival series: Episode 1 "My Struggle" (premiere), Episode 2 "Home Again"; Episode 3 "Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster", Episode 4 "Babylon", Episode 5 "Founder's Mutation" and Episode 6 "My Struggle II" (season finale).

The X-Files event series is one of the most highly anticipated projects at Fox Television. Fox, not Molder, recently released clips for X-Files Fans to study for clues to the upcoming reboot.

"You're seeing a scene from our first episode back," said Chairman and CEO Dana Walden, not Scully.

"As you may recall, the mix of episodes we did was mythology episodes, episodes that dug deeper into the conspiracy of The X Files, and then there were great standalone episodes. That's still the mix we'll be exploring in this run."

In other news Annabeth Gish will return as Agent Monica Reyes, who was introduced in Season 8 of the original series, on The X-Files reboot. Gish will appear in one episode, according to Entertainment Weekly reports. No word yet on whether her partner, Agent John Doggett, played by the Terminator Robert Patrick, who currently stars on "Scorpion."

Gish recently appeared on Pretty Little Liars and FX's The Bridge and Sons of Anarchy.

William B. Davis will be back as The Cigarette Smoking Man. The Lone Gunmen, Dean Haglund (Ringo Langly), Tom Braidwood (Frohike) and Bruce Harwood (Byers) will also be back. Sheila Larken will return as Dana Scully's mother, Margaret Scully. Joel McHale will be playing the role of Tad O'Mally, a news anchor from a conservative network. Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose will play FBI agents Miller and Einstein. Rhys Darby and Kumail Nanjiani were cast in undisclosed roles.

Annet Mahendru was cast as Sveta, who is the "key to everything."

The new X-Files series 6-Episode Event Series begins its 2-night premiere on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, on Fox. It will the second episode on Monday, Jan. 25 (8-9 p.m. ET).
