Accused Auburn shooter appears in court

With his hands shackled in front of him, Desmonte Leonard was surrounded by nearly two dozen uniformed officers and peeked back at his family during his first hearing at Lee County Justice Center in Opelika, Ala., Thursday.

Leonard turned himself in Tuesday in his hometown of Montgomery. He's facing three counts of murder and two counts of second-degree assault. A third count of assault is likely to be filed next week.

Leonard is accused of shooting six and killing three, including two former Auburn football players, at a party at an Auburn apartment complex.
