Palladium-Item

She's won the Academy of Country Music’s Top Female Artist of the Year and CMA’s prestigious Horizon Award.

Country artist Jo Dee Messina will perform at Civic Hall in May 2016.

And she was the first female country artist to score three multiple-week No. 1 songs from the same album.

Jo Dee Messina will bring her hit songs to Richmond on May 21 for a concert at Civic Hall Performing Arts Center in Richmond High School.

Fewer than 60 tickets remain for the 7:30 p.m. show that concludes Civic Hall's Proudly Presenting series of nationally touring performers.

Tickets are $32 for adults and $24 for students.

Fans might recognize some of Messina's nine No. 1 songs including “I’m Alright,” “Bring On The Rain” (a duet with Tim McGraw), “That’s The Way,” “Bye Bye” and “My Give A Damn’s Busted,” as well as 13 Top 20 singles.

Her first hit was “Heads Carolina, Tails California” in 1996, but she has continued to release new material through the years. Her last studio album, "Delicious Surprise," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Charts and was certified gold.

Messina wrote or co-wrote many of the songs on her 2014 album "ME"  that features a variety of pop, rock, country and R&B styles.

She has a new album called "Masquerade" coming out this spring. “I have been getting a lot of positive feedback and excitement out on the road with this new material," Messina said late last year on her website.

In addition to her music skills, Messina has gained attention as an author. She wrote one of the stories in the 2015 book "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom" that features 101 stories of gratitude, love and lessons about motherhood.
