After a disappointing 6-10 season in 2017, the Miami Dolphins now know what they must go through if they are going to bounce back and return to the postseason.

Here is a look at the complete schedule for the Dolphins in the 2018 regular season, per NFL.com.

Analysis

Miami made the playoffs in 2016 with a 10-6 record and appeared to have something to build on. However, Ryan Tannehill missed all of last season after tearing his ACL in August. Dolphins coach Adam Gase was able to talk former Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler out of retirement—but that didn't help the team return to the playoffs.

Cutler and Co. jumped out to a 4-2 start but spiraled out of control down the stretch. They lost eight of their final 10 games, although they did manage to beat the eventual AFC champs, the New England Patriots.

The Dolphins may get Tannehill back under center in 2018, but the team will have a much different look than the last time he was on the field.

Gone are Ndamukong Suh, Jarvis Landry, Julius Thomas and Mike Pouncey. Frank Gore and Danny Amendola are among the players who have been brought in during this transitional offseason. And with the 11th overall pick they have a chance to add an impact player later this month.

Gase has gone 16-16 in his first two seasons as coach. There will be plenty of adjustments necessary with Tannehill back and a new-look roster, but he will now start facing pressure to consistently win games.

Pivotal Matchups

The Dolphins made the playoffs just two seasons ago behind the strength of a strong home-field advantage, winning six of their eight home contests. They went 4-3 in South Beach last year and won only two games away from Hard Rock Stadium.

While most teams would prefer not to face New England regardless of stadium, Dolphins fans are likely circling the calendar for when the Patriots come to town on Dec. 9. Interestingly, Tom Brady and Co. have lost four of the last five meetings in Florida, including last year when the struggling Dolphins entered having lost five of six games.

There will be two chances at redemption against the Buffalo Bills (Week 13 and Week 17). Miami was unable to play the role of spoiler last year, losing both meetings in the final three weeks of the season as Buffalo made a playoff push. The Bills were the only AFC foe the Dolphins were not able to defeat in 2017.

Overall, Miami has five games against teams that made the playoffs last season and will face three of the four teams that were playing on Championship Sunday. Non-playoff teams like the Green Bay Packers, the Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts could all have their starting quarterbacks (Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson and Andrew Luck, respectively) back under center after they missed extended time last season due to injuries.

The Dolphins better come ready to play every week.
