Retired U.S. Army SSG Curtis Briley was an aspiring entrepreneur and an avid enthusiast in many fields of sciences including Engineering, Aviation, Alternate Energy, and the Exploration of Space.

He served in Vietnam, retired from the U.S. National Guard, and was a devoted American.

He was a Proud Veteran, Father of two from his 16-year marriage, and Grandfather of five children who are all blessed with the Briley-rooted inquisitive, intelligent and spirited genes.

He worked most of his life with heavy line equipment and later in protection services. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Lee Briley and Joyce Arlene Webber Briley of Johannesburg, Michigan.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren and eight siblings: Crystal Briley of Cheboygan, MI, Barton Briley of Johannesburg, Victor (Wendy) Briley of Johannesburg, Colleen (Mike) Marvin of Johannesburg, Lois (Scot) McKinnon of Bay City, MI, Arlin (Helen) Briley of St Petersburg, FL, Clinton (Sherry) Briley of Johannesburg, MI, Mitchell Briley of Johannesburg, and twenty-three nieces and nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 11th at the Vienna Township Hall from 10:30am - 4:00pm, with military honors presented at noon. Please thank a military person as a tribute to Curtis’ legacy.
