Why You Should Stay At Four Seasons Buenos Aires, One Of The City's Best Hotels

This article is more than 4 years old.

Situated in the heart of Recoleta, one of Buenos Aires’ most sophisticated and historic neighborhoods, is the Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires. Opened in 2002, the elegant property spanning a contemporary tower and 1920’s Belle Époque mansion underwent a sweeping, $50 million renovation in 2011. And today, it firmly remains one of the city’s buzziest places to stay and socialize. Below, more reasons why you should consider making the Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires your home base when visiting Argentina’s charming capital city.

Accommodations

With 165 rooms and suites in the tower and seven suites in the mansion, there’s plenty of options of varying styles to unwind in. If you prefer a more contemporary vibe, stay in the tower. No matter which category you book, you’ll be greeted with a plush space kitted out in a neutral palette, locally-made furnishings by Costantini Design, and art exclusively curated by L’Art. The spacious bathrooms are luxuriously clad in marble, and stocked with L’Occitane products. (Four Seasons is the only city hotel to have French amenities.) If it’s a more decadent experience you’re after, though, look no further than the mansion suites. Lavishly appointed with Savonnerie rugs, silk curtains, and crystal chandeliers, all seven suites epitomize stylish, old world grandeur. (No wonder the world’s most recognized figures, from Madonna to Prince Philip, have hunkered down here.)

Restaurants and Bars

In true Four Seasons fashion, eating and drinking really well come easily here. Elena, the hotel’s signature all-day eatery, is just as popular with hotel guests as it is with the city’s stylish set. Under the watchful eye of chef Juan Gaffuri, the two-story restaurant turns out elevated riffs on traditional Argentine cuisine. (The best-selling dry-aged T-bone steak comes highly recommended.) And soon to be unveiled is a unique chef’s table, offering a blind and experimental – menus will not be presented beforehand – tasting menu and beverage pairing. At the ever bustling and lively Nuestro Secreto, all things meaty and wood-fired – be sure to order the blood sausage croquettes and skirt steak – are the specialty of the house. (And on Sundays, a hearty traditional asado is available.) Gourmet burgers are trending big time in Buenos Aires, and locals credit Pony Line, the hotel’s equestrian-themed lounge, with kicking off the gastronomic trend. While the burgers might be the main draw, the well-crafted cocktails and live entertainment – DJs spin tunes Wednesday and Saturday nights – keep guests happily put long after the food is finished.

Fitness and Spa

In addition to being home to the city’s only hotel outdoor pool, the Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires has a spotless and spacious fitness center and Cielo Spa. A crisp and soothing oasis dedicated to help restore even the most fatigued traveler, Cielo offers a wide range of botanically-based treatments. But if you want to experience something completely original and inspired by the destination, try the Porteño Tango massage. Set to a soundtrack of traditional tango tunes, the 80-minute session involves a refreshing back scrub, followed by an invigorating massage synchronized to the music. Fittingly, the treatment closes with a glass of Argentinian Malbec, to help lull you into an even deeper state of relaxation.
