Local restaurants offer outdoor and take-out options to make your Thanksgiving holiday safe and sane

San Diego County restaurants, reeling from the re-closure of all indoor dining last weekend due to COVID-19, are hoping local families will take the year off from cooking their Thanksgiving dinners this year. Here are some of the many special Thanksgiving meals being served up for outdoor and takeout dining on Thursday.

Addison: San Diego’s only Michelin-starred restaurant will be preparing an eight-course terrace dining experience featuring holiday classic dishes reimagined through the lens of California gastronomy created by chef William Bradley. Arlo: The new restaurant at Town & Country resort is serving a three-course dinner menu with choices of smoked turkey meatballs, turkey breast and prosciutto and turkey thighs and chestnuts. Avant: This restaurant at the Rancho Bernardo Inn will serve a three-course outdoor lunch and dinner menu of Thanksgiving favorites with an elevated twist. Backyard Kitchen & Tap: On Nov. 26, Backyard will be serving onsite a three-course Thanksgiving meal priced at $31.95 for the turkey option or $36.95 for prime rib. Children’s meals are $17.95. There will also be a takeout meal designed to serve six to eight people with choice of ham, turkey or meatloaf entree, priced at $149.95. Barleymash: Chef Kevin Templeton will be serving onsite a three-course Thanksgiving day dinner featuring a main course of Andouille-stuffed turkey roulade with brown ale biscuit stuffing. Bleu Bohème: This Kensington restaurant is set to serve a three-course Thanksgiving meal with a menu crafted by owner and executive chef Ken Irvine. He’s offering traditional dishes with French twists. The first course includes choices such as pumpkin-hominy soup with crispy parsnips and chive crème fraiche and crab croquettes served with jicama remoulade, tomato-rocket salad, and saffron aioli. Cafe Gratitude: No turkeys will be harmed for this restaurants vegan-friendly a la carte Thanksgiving menu, which is available throughout November. Giardino: This Lemon Grove restaurant will be serving an all-day Thanksgiving menu from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 26, featuring a la carte dishes and holiday specials. Guests can dine outdoors onsite or pre-order a Thanksgiving-to-Go meal option with different dishes and portion sizes. Juniper and Ivy: This Michelin Bib Gourmand awardee, helmed by chef Anthony Wells, is offering a “Thanksgiving at Home” eight-course package that feeds six to eight people for Thanksgiving day. The turkey feast is already sold out, but there are still some prime rib roast dinners slots available. Options include a dinner for two option for $165 and a feast for six to eight people for $475. Loews Coronado Bay Resort: Chef Christopher Aguirre is preparing a four-course prix-fixe menu, featuring butternut squash soup and roast turkey, for patio dining onsite at the resort’s Crown Landing restaurant. It’s priced at $60 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under, and served from noon to 9 p.m. Nov. 26. Pacific Beach AleHouse: Like its sister restaurant Backyard Kitchen, PB AleHouse will be serving onsite a three-course Thanksgiving meal priced at $31.95 for the turkey option or $36.95 for prime rib. Rancho Valencia Resort’s Pony Camp: The hotel will forgo its annual Thanksgiving Day buffet this year for an alfresco family-style takeout dinner meal that can be enjoyed on the 49-acre property or at home. RustiCucina: This new Sicilian restaurant will be serving an Italian-inspired a la carte menu on Thanksgiving day for onsite dining, takeout and delivery. STK Steakhouse San Diego: STK is offering a seven-course roast turkey meal for outdoor dining onsite, delivery or pickup from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 26 through Nov. 29.
