One of the most revered singers in Latin music will provide the soundtrack for romance on Valentine’s Day weekend in Orlando.
Mexican superstar Juan Gabriel recorded his “El Alma Joven…” debut album in 1971 on RCA Records. He followed it with 15 more albums that sold more than 20 million copies over the next two decades. The recipient of the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award in 1995, Gabriel was inducted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame a year later.
The youngest of 10 children, Gabriel was raised in the Mexican border town of Juarez. There, he started writing songs at age 13. He has recorded more than 1,000 of his own songs in more than four decades in the spotlight. He also became a movie star in films such as “Nobleza Ranchera,” “Del Otro Lado del Puerte” and “Es Mi Vida.”
Juan Gabriel will perform Feb. 15 at Amway Center in Orlando. Tickets are $50-$148.50, on sale Friday, Nov. 21.
