List of National Night Out events across Houston area

HOUSTON The event is designed to unite citizens against crime and send a message to criminals that they're fighting back. Many city officials participate in the events and local law enforcement agencies help heighten crime and drug prevention awareness among residents; they also generate support for and encourage participation in local anti-crime programs.

Below is a list of Houston-area communities' plans for National Night Out. The cities are listed in alphabetical order.

Baytown

From 7 to 10pm, residents in neighborhoods throughout Baytown and across Texas, are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Baytown will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, visits from police, contests, youth activities and anticrime rallies.

Conroe

The Conroe Police Department is having National Night Out event with free food and activities for the entire family from 5pm to 7pm at the Aquatics Center , located next to Candy Cane Park on 1204 Callahan. For more information, call the police department at 936 522-3220.

Deer Park

Between 6 and 9pm, Deer park officers as well as members of city council, city management, and the fire department will visit city neighborhoods celebrating National Night Out.

Galveston

The Moody Mansion, located at 2618 Broadway, is holding a free outdoor community concert from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Everyone is invited to bring a chair and a cooler to enjoy this event! For a list of neighborhood parties, click here: http://www.cityofgalveston.org/news/default.cfm?ID=4237.

Harris County

Residents are encouraged to come out and meet their neighbors, as well as law enforcement officers, to discuss crime concerns in their community. Sheriff Adrian Garcia and HCSO deputies will be attending neighborhood gatherings throughout Harris County. Among them are:

North/Northeast Harris County

  • The Cranbrook Subdivision located at 1200 Clear Valley also will have a large event with food, music and children's games scheduled from 6pm to 8pm. There will be representatives from the Cranbrook HOA, Harris County Pct.4 Constable's Office, Little York Fire Department, Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, MUD#200 Utility District and Spring ISD Police.

Houston

National Night Out festivities are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5. Citizens are encouraged to go outside their homes to meet their neighbors at various social events and block parties planned throughout many neighborhoods in the Houston area.

Houston -- Southeast

De Zavala Park Community Center, 7521 Avenue H, Houston, TX 77012, (713) 923-5163: National Night Out is designed to; heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, to generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message back to criminals and letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and very well informed and are taking a stand on fighting back! So I encourage you all to come out and meet your neighbors and receive very important information literature that will be available from all our different vendors that will be set up at the park with vital information for the community. So come on out and enjoy free food, drinks, music and activities, from 6 to 9pm.

Sunnyside's National Night Out -- Fiesta Mart Inc 9420 Cullen Blvd (parking lot): Please join GenXTalksUrNews in attendance at "Sunnyside National Night Out 2010".Houston's Greatest Night Out Against Crime. This is an event sponsored by the Mayor of *Sunnyside, Ms. Sandra Massie Hines, Houston Police and Fire Departments, PCT 7 Constable Office Mae Walker and several Sunnyside Civic Associations, from 6 to 9pm.

Houston -- Northwest

The Near Northwest Management District and Near Northwest Houston Weed & Seed Grant Management are hosting a National Night Out celebration from 5:30 to 8:30pm in the Kroger parking lot at 5620 W. Tidwell. There will be safety presentations from Harris County Precinct 1 Constables and the Houston Fire Department as well as appearances by Councilmembers Jarvis Johnson and Brenda Stardig and by State Representative Sylvester Turner as well as fun activities for all ages including a moonwalk, balloons, rock climbing, petting zoo, clowns, music, entertainment and prizes and free food for everyone.

Houston -- Southwest

In southwest Houston, two events are planned: the first is at PlazAmericas mall, 7500 Bellaire Blvd, from 6 to 9pm. The second event is at Diho Square Shopping Center, 9100 Bellaire, from 6 to 9pm. There will be law enforcement personnel, live entertainment as well as vendors, free food and drinks at both events.

Houston ISD Police Department

The school district's police department is encouraging people to come grab a snack learn about safety from 4 to 7pm at their offices located at 3500 Tampa. They're also encouraging you to go outside and meet your neighbors.

Katy

The Katy Police Department is hosting its event between 5:30 and 8:30PM at the Katy City Park, 5720 Franz Rd. It will include "food, fun and fellowship."

League City

From 5:30p.m to 9pm, residents in neighborhoods throughout League City and across Texas, are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout League City will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, visits from police, contests, youth activities and anticrime rallies.

METRO

METRO police want you to stop by their headquarters meet members of the Special Operations Response Team (S.O.R.T), MPD's four-legged champion K-9 officer Vigo (back on the job after double knee surgery) and check out the department's bomb robot. You can stop by anytime between 10am and 2pm at METRO's headquarters, 1900 Main at St. Joseph Parkway. .

Missouri City

Celebrating community unity and promoting safe streets, Missouri City residents will partner with their police officers, firefighters and City officials on Tuesday, Oct. 5 to participate in the 27th annual National Night Out.

Rosenberg

Rosenberg's National Night Out will include neighborhood block parties throughout the city, and a business merchants event at Brazos Town Center in the Target parking lot. The event at Brazos Town Center will begin at 7 p.m. and continue until dark. The night will include demonstrations with the RPD canine unit, tours of the Rosenberg Fire Department's Fire Safety House, and other children's activities. Many Brazos Town Center merchants will have goodies for the crowd to enjoy.

Sugar Land

The city is participating in the event between 6 and 9PM. If you register your National Night Out party, police officers, firefighters, the mayor, City Council members and other city officials will try to visit yours. The Woodlands

Residents are encouraged to gather between 5:30 and 8pm on their street or in a nearby park. Each neighborhood decides how to celebrate, whether it's something as simple as popsicles for the kids or a full-blown potluck dinner.
