Kelly Clarkson played hardball against Alicia Keys on The Voice on Monday night while vying for soulful singer Hannah Goebel.

Twenty-year-old Hannah had sung Alicia's hit song If I Ain't Got You, turning four chairs.

But 35-year-old Kelly, the winner of the first season of American Idol, blocked Alicia to improve her chances.

'She's singing Alicia Keys, I stand no chance in this, so I had to block her,' protested Kelly who got up to belt out some Alicia while lobbying for Hannah.

'Your dreams were crushed today,' remarked 38-year-old Adam Levine, who called himself 'a really good coach'.

'I love you, I don't know how much more of a browbeating I can take,' said Blake Shelton, who has won The Voice six times in the past.

Hannah chose Kelly as her coach after her performance ended two hours of blind auditions on the NBC talent show.
