Robert "Bob" Roy Paine

Robert "Bob" Roy Paine, 88, of Puposky, MN died on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Autumn Hills Assisted Living in Bemidji, MN.

A private burial will be held.

Bob was born on October 22, 1929 in Wheaton, MN, the son of Brackett and Florence (Gay) Paine. He attended several country schools before graduating from Bemidji High School in 1947. He then worked for the US Postal Service in St. Paul, MN and was later transferred to Bemidji. He married Ardis Gamble in 1949 and together they had 4 children and made their home in Nebish Township. Bob was manager of the Bemidji Coop Creamery and in 1978 he and Ardis operated a hog operation, the first of its kind in Beltrami County with a waste facility. Bob loved farming. He also had a logging business for a few years. Ardis died in January of 1988. Bob married Dea J. Auchter-Yerbich on June 24, 1989 in Bemidji. Together they lived on his farm. His step son rented some of his land the past several years and Bob would ride his ATV to the pastures and fields to check on everything. He always looked forward to deer hunting and when health allowed he loved to elk hunt in Montana. He and his buddy, Dave spent many years trapping and fishing together. He also turkey hunted in Missouri and shot a trophy. Bob was a Nebish Town Board Supervisor for many years, served on the Beltrami Electric Board for 9 years and on the Minnkota Board for several years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed watching Westerns. The past 13 months he lived at Autumn Hills Assisted Living in Bemidji. Although he wanted to be home, he would say what a great place it was. He and his family appreciate all the care he was given. His stepson lives there also and they'd go for daily smoking trips outside. On June 24, 2018 on his 29th anniversary he spent the day at home on the farm and really enjoyed it. He loved eating out at the Southside Restaurant in Bemidji. He led a good life, loved company and was thankful to all his family and friends for their visits.
