Ex-Employee Costs Beachwood Mall Stores Cash: Police Blotter

Beachwood Police said a former employee of a mall kiosk gave out unauthorized discounts, costing their former employer money.

BEACHWOOD, OH — It was not a good week for businesses and employees in Beachwood. Police said two incidents between managers and employees required police attention, including a deception that cost a Beachwood Place Mall kiosk some cash.

Theft from Building, October 8 — About $12,000 of jewelry were stolen from a Beachwood resident's apartment. A house guest is a suspect in the case, police said.

Theft, October 8 — Beachwood police said a woman's cell was stolen while she was Beachwood Place Mall.

Shoplifting, October 8 —Employees at the Pink store at the mall reported that someone stole merchandise from their store.

Disturbance, October 9 — An employee threw a glass of water at the manager of Marco's Pizza on Tuesday, police said. The employee had been asked to leave and retaliated by throwing the water.

Theft by Deception, October 9 — A former employee at a kiosk in Beachwood Place Mall gave customers unauthorized discounts, causing the business to lose money.

Possession of Hallucinogens, October 10 — A Beachwood resident came to the police station and turned in pills they had found in their son's possession. Charges may be filed against the son through the city's juvenile court, police said.

Private Property Damage, October 10 — A rock was thrown through a resident's screen door and shattered the glass of a window pane. Police did not say if there were any suspects in the case.

Shoplifting, October 11 — About $700 of merchandise was stolen from stores at Beachwood Place Mall. Police caught the suspects on I-271 south. Two women were arrested for shoplifting, receiving stolen property, driving with a suspended license, and not using turn signals.
