Police: Ridgefield family held at gunpoint during home invasion

Police say a family was unharmed after four men kicked in a door to their Ridgefield home Monday night.

RIDGEFIELD — Authorities are searching for four men who held a family at gunpoint while ransacking their home Monday night.

Capt. Richard Besser of the Ridgefield police said that officers were dispatched to the home on the 400 block of Morse Avenue at around 11:09 p.m., where they found the family unharmed.

A man, who is also a local minister, said he was home with his wife and two adult daughters when four men kicked in a side door and barged in. The group then threatened the family, and demanded they be directed to a safe.

"Factually, there was no safe in the home," Besser said.

The men eventually called off their search, and made off with some jewelry. None of the family members were injured.

Besser said that the family used to keep a safe in the home, and that detectives believe the intruders were operating on "old information."

Police are pursuing leads in the case, but could not provide details because the investigation remains active.
