The filmmaker notes that POTUS only ran for president because he wanted to get better salary than the songstress.

AceShowbiz - Michael Moore has bizarrely claimed Donald Trump only ran for president to get a better pay cheque than Gwen Stefani.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday, September 5 to promote "Fahrenheit 11/9", his political documentary about the 2016 U.S. presidential election and Trump's presidency, the filmmaker insists the 72-year-old announced his presidential candidacy after he learned that Stefani earned more money as a coach on NBC's "The Voice" than he did on the network's "The Apprentice". And that he only organised his Trump Tower campaign announcement in a bid to show NBC he was more popular.

"He'd been talking about running for president since 1998, but he didn't really want to be president," Moore told the publication. "There's no penthouse in the White House. And he doesn't want to live in a black city. He was trying to pit NBC against another network, but it just went off the rails."

Trump's attempt to outplay the network failed however, as following his racist comments about Mexican nationals on the campaign trail, NBC cut ties with the business mogul, forcing him to continue his presidential bid.

Neither the White House nor Stefani have commented on Moore's claims.

His theory coincides with Michael Wolff's claim in his book, "Fire And Fury: Inside The Trump White House", that winning the U.S. election wasn't ever Trump's goal.

"Shortly after 8pm on election night, when the unexpected trend — Trump might actually win — seemed confirmed, Don Jr. told a friend that his father, or DJT, as he calls him, looked as if he had seen a ghost," an excerpt from the book reveals. "Melania was in tears — and not of joy".
