HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Back after what was a controversial end to last season, The Kaiser Cougars battled to a 12 - 12 draw with the Aiea Na Ali'i in their home opener of 2018.

The Cougars led by 12 early in the first half. Senior Quarterback Koa Tom scrambled into the end zone twice in the first quarter from five and ten yards out.

However the Na Ali'i would battle back due to a stout performance by their defense, that shut the Cougars out the final three quarters of the game.

Junior Kayson Castillo tossed a pair of touchdowns for Aiea and finished with 233 total passing yards. Tonight marked the first time since the 2016 season that Kaiser High School played a varsity football game after their 2017 was controversially cancelled.

Aiea will next play Nanakuli on August 10th, the Cougars will next play Kalaheo.
