A 6-year-old died and others are facing life-threatening injuries after a crash in Merrill, Iowa on Monday. 

The Iowa State Patrol announced Ayaan Ibrahn, 6, died after a Nissan Rogue lost control and collided nearly head-on with a Dodge Dakota. 

Ibrahn was a passenger in the Nissan Rogue which was driven by Mohamed Abdullahi-Mohamud, 38, of Sioux City, Iowa. Abdullahi-Mohamud is facing life-threatening injuries, while Rayan Arab, 8-months-old, is facing serious injuries and Hawo Arab, 34, is facing non-life-threatening injuries. 

Sarah Landsness, 33, of Le Mars, Iowa, was driving the Dodge Dakota and suffered serious injuries. All passengers were wearing seatbelts. 

The crash is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol Technical Investigation Unit and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department.
