SPRINGPORT, MI - For the third time in 2018, a new Dollar General has opened in Jackson County.
The store had a grand opening at its new 441 E. Main St. location in Springport on Saturday, Sept. 8. It's the county's 21st Dollar General store.
New stores were opened in Blackman Township and Summit Township in February and May, respectively. Five Dollar General stores opened in the county in 2017.
Don't expect the trend to continue, however, at least in the short term. There are no current plans to build another store in the county, spokeswoman Angela Petkovic said.
Most locations employ six to 10 people, according to the business. Stores offer products like food, seasonal items, cleaning supplies, apparel, health products and beauty products.
