Obituary: Presho, Weldon Ellis

Age 84

PRESHO, Weldon Ellis Passed away on February 15, 2015 in Spokane, Washington at the age of 83.

He was born on February 26, 1931, in Spokane, WA the son of James and Harriet (Shenefelt) Presho.

In 1940 at the age of nine, Weldon moved with his family to Springdale, Washington.

He graduated from Springdale High School in 1949.

Shortly after graduation he joined the United States Army.

During his time of service, while stationed at Camp Roberts in California, he met Reita “Sally” Alexander and they were married in 1953.

He and his family were living in Tacoma, WA at the time of his discharge.

Soon after his release from the Army he moved his family to Maine, where they made their home for several years.

In 1962, he brought his family back to Washington and they purchased the family farm in Springdale.

Then in 1984 another move took them to Quincy, WA where he worked as a Transportation Supervisor for the Quincy School District until his retirement in 1995.

Upon his retirement, Weldon purchased an RV and began his love of snow-birding, for the next 20 years.

In 2000 Reita passed away and later that same year he married Lorna “Lori” Palmer.

Weldon and Lori continued the snow-birding tradition until his recent battle with cancer brought him back to be close to his family.

Weldon found much enjoyment in the outdoors, hunting, boating, camping and desert golf.

He was also very talented at a variety of things and created many wonderful heirlooms as a silversmith and woodworker to name a few.

Weldon was always happy to sit down and play a challenging game of cards.

He was known for his magnetic and charming personality and great sense of humor with an infectious laugh.

With such a character, nearly everyone that met him ended up being his friend.

The most important thing in Weldon’s life was time spent with his family.

No matter what the occasion, if he was with those he loved, he was the happiest.

His laugh and love for everyone will be greatly missed.

Weldon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Reita; sister, Dorene Matherly; and one grandson, Eric Klins.
