Rainbow Time Trailer

"I'm jealous of what you have." The Orchard has debuted a trailer for an odd indie comedy titled Rainbow Time, written, directed by and starring Linas Phillips. The film is about a mentally challenged man named Shonzi, played by Linas Phillips, who moves in with his brother Todd, played by Timm Sharp. He now lives with his girlfriend Lindsay, played by the always wonderful Melanie Lynskey, and things become awkward when Shonzi wants to get more involved in their relationship, threatening to reveal secrets about Todd's past. As weird as this sounds, the trailer actually promises a charming, quirky, enjoyably unique film.

Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Linas Phillips' Rainbow Time, direct from YouTube:

A developmentally delayed 40 year old man named Shonzi is sent to live with his brother Todd. But when Shonzi develops a crush on Todd's new girlfriend Lindsay, he threatens to reveal past secrets that could ultimately tear the couple apart. Rainbow Time is both written and directed by American actor-filmmaker Linas Phillips, director of the film Bass Ackwards, two docs, and a number of short films previously. This is produced by the Duplass Brothers. It first premiered at the SXSW Film Festival and also played at the Seattle Film Festival this year. The Orchard will release Rainbow Time in theaters starting November 4th.

This was one of the more pleasant surprises from SXSW. Nothing spectacular, but what stands out is a really eye-opening central performance from Linus (writer/director/lead) in a movie with a sensitive heart, but not sappy. And backed by the Duplass Bros...Those guys know good movies.

'Loving unlovable'. Sometimes I think that world is full of people like that. This film looks interestingly good.
