American Dream announces another tenant. Bring your appetite for this one.

H Mart, a Lyndhurst-based Asian American market with 61 stores in the United States will open a 35,000-square-foot store and restaurant.

The location will feature national and international Asian food concepts, an on-site bakery and New Jersey’s first ‘Let Them Talk’ bar and stage with live music, craft cocktails, entertainment and weekly events.

“At American Dream we look forward to offering guests an incredible, diverse culinary adventure,” said Don Ghermezian, President, American Dream. “We have expertly curated an exceptional blend of food offerings that allow guests to experience something interesting and different in each area of the property. H Mart’s reputation precedes itself, bringing a range of upscale Asian-American grocery items and multiple cuisines to American Dream.”

H Mart will be one of more than 120 dining options at the 3-million-square foot American Dream. The mega mall, located along Route 3 and the New Jersey Turnpike in East Rutherford, is slated to open its first phase on Oct. 25.

The development will consist of 45 percent retail and 55 percent entertainment. Among the dining options will be more than 20 sit-down restaurants, a Coca-Cola branded food court and three food halls.

H Mart — whose slogan is ‘A Korean tradition, made in America’ — was announced Wednesday as a tenant at American Dream.

“H Mart and Market Eatery at American Dream will be New Jersey’s newest food lover’s destination,” said Stacey Kwon, President, H Mart. “We are creating a new template for the future of Asian food in America - a place to experience the best of what Asia has to offer, discover new flavors or have a taste of home. We have many exciting projects in the works and are thrilled to showcase them at American Dream.”

H Mart opened its first store in 1980 in Woodside, NY. Then in 1992 it opened its first in New Jersey — in Englewood. It established its headquarters in Lyndhurst in 1998 and continued to open a handful of stores in Bergen County and elsewhere across the country. The chain now has 61 U.S. stores, five in the U.K. and a dozen in Canada. It generates more than $1 billion in revenue and employs 2,500 people.

The "H" in “H Mart” stands for Han Ah Reum, a Korean phrase meaning “one arm full of groceries”, according to Wikipedia.
