Man Tried To Have Sex With Child In Montco Walmart: Cops

The man stood near the Walmart's bathroom and tried to lure the young boy in, police said.

WEST NORRITON, PA — A Pottstown man has been arrested after trying to lure a child into sex inside a West Norriton Walmart bathroom, police said.

The incident occurred on May 19 at around 10:55 p.m., police announced on Monday.

Police were first tipped off that Brian J. Whiting, 41, was up to something by the victim.

As he stood near the bathroom of the store, Whiting tried to get the young boy, under the age of 13, to come into the bathroom for sex, police said.

Security footage showed Whiting repeatedly entering the Walmart wearing different clothing.

The victim was able to give a detailed description of Whiting, and police were able to find him nearby.

He has been charged with luring a child, unlawful contact with a minor, criminal attempt at involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, and related counts.

Bail was set at $100,000 and he was taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 28 before District Judge Marc Alfarano.
