Katherine McCord Johnson-Barlow, 74, passed away on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at her home. She was a native of Miami, Fla., and a resident of Suffolk for 14 years. She was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church of Whaleyville.

Katherine was preceded in rest by her parents, Lawrence and Bebe McCord; brother, Bobby McCord; and daughter, Michele Johnson Smith. She is survived by her husband, Rick A. Barlow; sons, Rocky, Gary and Charles Johnson and Eric Barlow; daughters, Shannon Johnson O’Brien, Brandi Barlow, Sara Barlow, April McLeod and Tammy Barlow; 16 grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Marrero; and brother, Lawrence McCord.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Katherine’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
