State police finally have answers after a suspicious person walked into Cambria Heights Elementary school and prompted a lock-down on Thursday.

Officers said a known student of the school district was seated in a school van that was located in the parking lot of CHES. We’re told he asked the van driver to use the restroom inside the school building. The driver granted him permission and the student exited the van and proceeded to the school.

Officials said the student was positively ID’d and then interviewed by Pennsylvania State Police. His statement was corroborated and found to be truthful. Police explained that at no time were the students or staff in danger.

The student is not facing any criminal charges as it was determined that no criminal activity occurred.

PSP said the following about the situation:

“We would like to especially thank the CHSD and Superintendent Michael Strasser for their professional assistance and utmost cooperation during what was initially believed to be a very serious situation. Fortunately, this investigation has come to a clear and positive resolution. Please be assured that members of the Pennsylvania State Police and local law enforcement stand ready to quickly respond and protect our children, schools, and communities. Lastly, we would again like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Carrolltown, PA community for their patience, understanding, and assistance throughout the course of this investigation!”
