The Hyderabad-Warangal highway ride is going to be smooth within the next 30 months with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) taking up four laning of the road – NH 163, at a cost of Rs.1,905 crore for a distance of 99.10 km.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao and Union Minister for Transport Nitin Gadkari will be laying the foundation stone for the work at Warangal on Jan 4. The contract will be executed by the L&T under the engineering, procurement and contract (EPC) method.
Four bypasses are being proposed to be built under the project at Vangapalli, Aler, Jangoan and Warangal. Two roads over bridges will also be coming up along with four vehicles under passes, three major bridges as also construction of 25 minor bridges.
The Roads & Buildings Minister, Tummala Nageswara Rao, said in a press release that once the expansion is complete it will not only help in industrialisation of the corridor between the capital and Warangal, aiding the development of towns like Aler and Jangoan and thereby help generate employment.
Besides, it will also reduce the travel time from Hyderabad and help transporters to save fuel.
New bridge
Mr. Rao also stated that a major bridge built across Godavari at Eturunagaram in Warangal at a cost of Rs.340 crore would also be inaugurated by the Chief Minister and Union Minister on the same day.
The project was taken up by the Centre under phase one of the infrastructure development works being taken up under the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas.
